Station Activities
Below are eleven 4th grade Geometry work stations and one Assessment page for teachers. Each one fits the 4th grade Geometry VA S.O.L's and outlines a different activity, the description of the activity, differentiation of the activity, formative assessment, references, and has printouts and the materials listed. Each station is geared for each student to be throughly engaged in a challenging activity while gaining valuable knowledge about geometric shapes and how we use them in the world today!
Here are a set of Geometry Vocabulary Cards every pair of students should have throughout these stations. Teachers can cut out and put on a ring for the students to flip through for reference.
Table of Contents:
Station 1 - What's My Shape
Station 2 - Alphabet Lines
Station 3 - Name the Shape
Station 4 - Creating Symmetry
S.O.L 4.11 - Students practice learning symmetry and reflection.
Materials Needed: One deck of cards and a dividing line (ruler or meter stick)
Station 5 - Polygon Sort
Station 6 - Geometry Clue Match Up
S.O.L 4.12 - Students will match up the clues to the correct polygon.
Materials Needed: Click on Geometry Clue Match Up in the drop down menu for the printout sort.
Station 7 - Angle Barrier Game
Station 8 - Make Geometry Creatures
Station 9 - Decoding ABC Symmetry
S.O.L 4.11 - Students will discover lines of symmetry within the letters of the alphabet.
Materials Needed: Click on Decoding ABC Symmetry in the drop down menu for the printout sort.
