Station 3: Name the Shape
- Skill/Content and Objective: S.O.L 4.12 - Students will identify different polygons.
- Materials: A place marker for each player, spinner, and one playing board.
- Description of Station: Students will brush up their knowledge of shapes in this fun board game. Use the spinner and move your marker around the playing board. When you land on a space you have to name the shape, if you guess correctly you can remain there. If not, you must move back one until you can guess the correct shape. The students may use the Math Talk Card for the first or second game, then they have to use their knowledge from the previous games to help in the following games.
- Ideas for Differentiation: Have the students write down what the shape is and two things that the shape has that makes it a shape or write down why it is not a shape.
- Formative Assessment: You may laminate the playing board and have the students write down the shapes name next to the space and collect it at the end of the station, then have them draw and name a shape that they did not know previous to the game and explain why/how it is a shape.
