Station 1: What's My Shape Game
- Skill/Content and Objective: S.O.L 4.12 - Students will identify different types of polygons.
- Materials: 4 sentence strips, 4 paper clips, 1 set of Shape Cards, 4 Question Cards, chips/markers.
- Description of Station: During this station students will use Question Cards to ask questions and find out the certain characteristics of their polygon, while the other group members (who see the students polygon) are answering the questions to help guide the student in guessing the correct polygon. After the students are done, have the students fill out their own "I Can" List.
- Ideas for Differentiation: Teachers can choose to work with the group on this station and ask further follow up questions to help build on the intense vocabulary, such as: Polygon, parallel lines, equal sides, etc.
- Formative Assessment: The "I Can" list for this station can act as your formative assessment to evaluate if the student has mastered the material. Or you may choose to have them draw their own polygon, name their polygon, explain why it is a polygon, and give one or two characteristics of that polygon.
