Station 5: Polygon Sort
- Skill/Content and Objective: S.O.L 4.12 - Students will sort different polygons
- Materials: Just the print outs of the sort and sheet (see below for link, under References).
- Description of Station: Students will get to sort polygons and non-polygons and then have to write down if it is a polygon or not and why. Students who are having more difficulty or if it is new to them have the students start with the Math Talk Card and they may also use it throughout the station.
- Ideas for Differentiation: After they sort through the whole sort, see if they can then eliminate the non-polygons and then see if they can tell their partner which polygon it is (hexagon, decagon, pentagon).
- Formative Assessment: The teacher can have the students fill out the polygon sheet from the station sort and then collect it after the station. Also, have the student pick a polygon and have them illustrate/describe why it is a polygon on the back of the sheet.
